San Pedro de Jujuy is a city in the province Jujuy in the North Argentina.
background
You can find them all over Argentina, but this is where they are at home now. Thanks to the Argentine President's resettlement campaign, Portenos from the poorest neighborhoods in the east of the city of San Pedro settled in 2011/2012. The fact that this has led to a significant increase in the crime rate is not surprising to anyone of the roughly 50,000 inhabitants of the small town in northern Argentina.
The San Pedriner, mainly people of the lower middle class, feel that the government in Buenos Aires has let them down. On the contrary, it seems to be more of a garbage dump. Who knows how many more will come to San Pedro from the barrios of the lowest rail in Buenos Aires.
Life in the small town is characterized by permanent drought. The tobacco farmers' association in nearby towns is using rockets to shoot silver pieces into the clouds, so as not to lose the tobacco plants that bring them their daily bread and certainly more, which then rain down without reaching San Pedro.
This city is already so plagued by the heat that a further deterioration in the climate would be almost murder. During the day you can no longer go out on the street from 1:00 p.m., from 5:00 p.m. a normal life is usually possible again.
