Savonlinna is a city in Eastern Finland near the border to Russia. She is on the line Joensuu-Helsinki.

Savonlinna is best known for its annual opera festival, which takes place every summer and attracts thousands of opera fans from all over Europe.

Savonlinna Airport is 15 km north of the city.

By train

The train station is in the middle of the city. Trains run via Parikkala, towards Helsinki in the south or towards Joensuu in the north. Savonlinna can be reached in around 5 hours from the capital Helsinki.
