Schefferville is a city of Quebec to Canada.

Schefferville is located in the heart of the Labrador Peninsula in the regional county municipality of Caniapiscau on the North Coast to Quebec. In 1982, the mining company IOC ceased operations and the majority of residents left the city. This company operated iron mines in Schefferville from 1954 to 1982 and the population grew to 5,000 inhabitants. Nowadays, the city has barely more than 200 inhabitants. Including the Innu and Naskapi Indian reserves, the population is 1,300 residents permanent. Interestingly, Schefferville is not run by a city council, but by an administrator appointed by the Quebec government.
Innu Indian reserves Matimekosh and Lac-John as well as the Naskapi village Kawawachikamach are located in Schefferville.
