Settle - Settle

Settle is a town in North Yorkshire.

Get in

The rail line from Leeds becomes the Settle–Carlisle railway, which has been threatened with closure many times. It's a popular tourist route and massive pressure has kept it open.

A tourist train[dead link] runs three times a day until 12 Sept 2020 between Skipton, Settle and Appleby. The train uses diesel-hauled first class coaches and an adult day-trip is £29. This is in addition to the timetabled service by Northern Rail.

If approaching by road, it is necessary to turn off the main A65 road from Leeds to the Lake District, which now by-passes Settle.
