Sivrihisar is the largest district of Eskişehir in terms of surface area. It is claimed that very important Turkish elders such as Nasreddin Hodja, Yunus Emre, Aziz Mahmut Hüdai and Hızır Bey came from this district. 120 km from Ankara. It is 90 km from Eskişehir. Before 1926, it was the district of Ankara.

Sivrihisar came under Ottoman rule in 1289. After a while, Osman Bey, together with Sivrihisar, gave the administration of the whole Eskişehir environment to his brother Gündüz Bey.

Sivrihisar Nasreddin HodjaIt is also the place of birth. Nasreddin Hodja, the great philosopher of Turkish folk humor, was born in 1208 in Hortu Village of Sivrihisar. The name of the neighborhood was changed to Nasreddin Hodja in 1999. Hodja's house still exists here. The two-storey house can be visited by obtaining the key from the municipality. Hortu Village is 26 kilometers away from Sivrihisar.
