The town South Queensferry is located on the south bank of the Firth of Forth in Scotland and is part of the Council Area City of Edinburgh and is about 15km west of Edinburgh.

The name of South Queensferry is therefore translated from Margaret of Scotland here over the Firth of Forth to Dunfermline Monastery to travel. In early mentions the settlement is called Port Reginœ or Passage Reginœ designated.

Despite the city name, there has been no ferry service to South Queensferry (anymore) since the road bridge was built. However, cruise ships go to the roadstead off South Queensferry, tender boats land at Hawes Pier under the railway bridge (for location, see Maid of the Forth boat tours). Those who have not booked an excursion can take the shuttle buses (approx. 10 GBP return), taxis (approx. 30 GBP one way) or the train (approx. 10 to 15 minutes walk uphill, train ticket depending on the time of day 5 to 7 GBP return) ).
