There is no train station in St. Andrews. The next station is about 10 km away Leuchars on the route Edinburgh - Aberdeen. From there, St. Andrews is easy to get to by bus.

From Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee There are frequent buses to St. Andrews. There are also regular connections with the other larger towns in Fife, including the Leuchars train station.

St Andrews has a small pier at the mouth of the river Kinness Burn. It is only suitable for small boats that can tolerate lying on the bottom, as the mini-harbor dries out at low tide.

Tourist Attractions

  • The Old Course. The oldest golf course in the world.
  • St. Andrews Castle. A castle ruin.
  • St. Andrews Cathedral. Once the seat of archbishops, no longer in use after the Reformation and therefore also in ruins today. On the site is St. Rule's Tower, the tower of an older church that has been preserved and can be climbed.
  • University of St Andrews. The university is the oldest in Scotland (third oldest British U. after Oxford and Cambridge) and was founded in 1413 by a papal bull.
