Sumedang is a city in Jawa Barat 46 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Bandung on the old road (post route) to Cirebon.
background
The city is known for its special type of tofu "tahu Bungkeng", which goes back to the Chinese immigrant Ong Kino. To the north lies the 1684 m high Gunung Tampomas volcano.

- Gunung Tampomas. Gunung Tampomas volcano in the north can be climbed. There are at least 2 ways to the summit. These are old pilgrimage routes that lead past places of worship.
