Say it
- Á [aː] long a-sound
- Č [tʃ] is pronounced tš
- ď sounds d
- É long e-voice
- Ě [jɛ] is pronounced je
- Í, Ý long i-voice
- Oh [ɔ̹ː] long o-sound
- OF sounds like Spanish ñ nj
- Ř [r̻] a weak, vibrating, s-mixed r-sound formed at the tip of the tongue, as in the Polish rz in the word rzeka

Vowels
In general, Czech vowels sound like in Finnish. Diphthongs sound as they are written. In addition, the consonants r, l, and (rarely) m can be pronounced as a vowel-like sound; for this reason, there are many words in the Czech Republic that seem to consist of mere consonants, even though they contain vowel-like sounds; for example krk (neck), blb (stupid) and Vlk (wolf).
