Hebrew, Ivriet (עברית), is the language of Israel and belongs to the Semitic languages. The language has a long history, from the first biblical writings Hebrew was used. However, classical Hebrew died out after a while. Later, in the 19th century, it was decided to bring the language back to life, with some adjustments to the grammar and lexicon. For example, the new Hebrew (Ivrit) does not have accent and vowel signs, which promote the pronunciation of the words, but so-called matres lectionis (esp. mater lecionis) or even no vowels at all where they should be when pronounced. Hebrew is a language that, like Arabic, comes from right to left is written and read.

Dive in , give it your attention and improve it !Proposed changes: Different systems have been used interchangeably here for the phonetic representation of a word (which is therefore in parentheses). The right system becomes here given. In the glossary, the first expression has been changed to the one most commonly used in movies, etc. In addition, a spelling is placed immediately after the word, before the pronunciation. This is just an example in case there is an official transliteration from the Israeli alphabet to ours. If it doesn't exist, the part "- shalom" after "פתוח" would be dropped. |
