The Valley of the Whales (Arabic:وادي الحيتان, Wādī al-Ḥītān, engl. Whale Valley, also Wadi Zeuglodon) is located west of the el-Faiyūm and west of the Wādī er-Raiyān. The Natural monument has been one since 2005 EgyptUnesco world heritage sites.

Flora and fauna
In a small area of about 8 km2 Over 240 Basilosaurus skeletons (sometimes referred to as Zeuglodon) were found in a former bay. Skeletal remains of Dorudon were also found here.

From el-Faiyūm coming from one drives to the Wādī er-Raiyān. On the asphalt road on the west bank of the southern lake you drive to the junction at 1 29 ° 11 '46 "N.30 ° 20 ′ 19 ″ E. After about 20 km in a north-westerly direction, one reaches the entrance to the valley of the whales on a slope.
