Tanjung Pinang is the capital of the Indonesian province Kepulauan Riau. It is located in the south-west of the island of Bintan at the mouth of the Gleinamigen river and is after with about 192,000 inhabitants Batam-City the second largest city in the region. Tanjung Pinang's history can be traced back to the early 3rd century when it flourished as a trading post on the trade route between India and China.
