The town Tigre is about 40 km north of Buenos Aires. It is located directly on the Paraná Delta, the most important local recreation area of Metropolitan area.

background
Already towards the end of the 18th century settlers established themselves in the region and built a port, but due to various natural disasters the place changed its position several times until it was moved to its present location in 1820. Towards the end of the 19th century, with the founding of the Tigre Club (now the Tigre Art Museum) and des Tigre Hotel a recreational area for the elite of Buenos Aires.
In the 20th century settled in the suburb General Pacheco the automotive industry. The actual Tigre, however, remained determined by its small port. Today there are a large number of sports clubs and country clubs in which the wealthier predominantly spend the weekend or even live in private quarters.
The city is the starting point for the Paraná Delta. From the port, scheduled boats go in all directions all the way to Carmelo in Uruguay.

By train
There are two possibilities:
- The Línea Miter (TBA) runs from Retiro train station to Tigre about every 20 minutes, the journey takes about 40 minutes.
- The Tren de la Costa starts in the village Vicente López near the presidential palace. It is a tram-like tourist train for the leisurely, which is significantly more expensive than the normal trains. The station can be reached Maipuwhere the train starts, with the suburban train to the station Bartolome Miter (TBA) from Retiro.
By bus
The Line 60 runs in dense regular traffic from Buenos Aires to Tigre. There are normal buses and diferenciales, more comfortable express buses with air conditioning, which are a little more expensive.

About the Ruta Panamericana (RN 9) to Boulogne-Sur-Mer and then via the expressway Ramal Tigre to Tigre.
By boat
From Uruguayan Carmelo Tigre can also be reached from there by regular boat.
mobility
While buses run in the urban area, the touristic delta is served by scheduled boats, the so-called lanchas colectivo served. The starting point is the port of Tigre.

In the delta you can do water sports, but you usually have to join a private club and usually need an invitation.
