Understand

The initial operation of the line dates back to a project of the Compagnie des chemin de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PML), in 1879, and work began in 1905. Inaugurated in 1909, the line will be used until 1971. A first association initiated the tourist operation of the line, from 1982 to 1985. After a brief interruption, the association was relaunched in May 1986, then transformed into a Société Anonyme in 1987. It employs a twenty people for the smooth running of the train and its dining car.
