The Treasure Beach community is made up of a number of fishing villages spread over 4 miles of coastline. On the rocky coast you will always find small, sandy bays for swimming. these are Billy's Bay, Calabash Bay, Frenchman's Bay and Great Pedro Bay or just Great Bay. About 11 km east of Treasure Beach is the next larger town Southfield. It is around 30 km to Black River in the northeast. It is 53 km to Mandeville in the north. Billy's Bay has a number of classic villas. A number of fishing boats are still moored in front of some newly built guest houses in Calabash Bay. Frenchman's Bay is the center of tourism, while Great Pedro Bay has remained a fishing village.
However, there is no infrastructure in the area for the great tourist development. Most guest houses are similar to a better Jamaican home. A number of them have overseas owners with a local agent. Some systems are operated on an alternative basis, with solar power, without air conditioning, without hot water, without telephone and without television.
Since the end of 1996, the Jamaican Army has maintained a coastal guard station there for the waters up to the Pedro Bank.

In the street
Treasure Bay is very remote from all good traffic routes on the southwest coast, there is not even a port. The area can only be reached by car on poor side roads. Montego Bay Airport 100 km away. The transfer from Montego Bay to Treasure Beach takes about 3 hours. Brand new is the Lionel Densham Aerodrome, about 10 minutes from Jake's.
