Tulcea or Tultscha is a port city in the Dobruja. Many ships start from here in the Danube Delta and on the three main arms of the Danube in the direction of the Black Sea.

Tulcea is the capital of the Tulcea district of the same name. In 2011 the city had about 73,700 inhabitants.
Tulcea is known as the gateway to the Danube Delta. There is a good tourist infrastructure with hotels and guest houses.
