Worth seeing

You have to visit Turzańsk, a village on the border of the Bieszczady Mountains and the Low Beskids, to see the Orthodox church - formerly Greek Catholic - today Orthodox. Michael the Archangel, entered on the UNESCO list. Built in the years 1801–1803. In 1817, a wooden belfry was built. In 1936, the church was expanded (with a porch from the west and probably a southern room - a storage for Christmas candles). After 1947 it was used by the parish in Komańcza, and in 1963 it was transferred to the Orthodox Church.

It presents the East Lemko type with the highest and most extensive nave, as well as the lower chancel and women's gallery. On the roof ridge, three large spherical turrets accentuate the three main internal spaces of the temple. There is a free-standing belfry next to it.

Inside, we see a complete iconostasis. In the women's gallery, you must see a painting depicting Christ in a Lemko hut. Around the church cemetery, we can find some interesting old stone and cast-iron tombstones.

Nearest neighborhood

Two more nearby temples in Rzepedź and Komańcza have survived in the same style, but only the one in Turzańsk was honored with an entry on the UNESCO list.
