Central Valley of Costa Rica is a region located inland from the Costa Rica.
To know
It is located in the Central Valley region San José, capital of the country; while the most famous cities of the central valley are: Alajuela, Cartago ed Heredia. In the territory of Alajuela, extended to the borders with the Nicaragua, the "Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde", one of the main destinations for ecotourism enthusiasts and, at the bottom of the homonymous lake of artificial origin, the Arenal volcano, whose fireworks display attract crowds of visitors, should be mentioned.
Geographical notes
Between the two marine sides there is an uninterrupted series of mountain ranges dotted with volcanoes, many of which are still active.

Urban centers
- Alajuela - The main attraction in the Alajuela territory, extending to the borders with the Nicaragua is the Arenal volcano, at the eastern end of the lake of the same name (Arenal Lagoon). The volcano is still active. The village of El Castillo it is the ideal base to enjoy the fireworks display.
- Cartago - Located about 25 km east of the country's capital, San José, and can be considered part of its metropolitan area. Severely damaged by the San Stanislao earthquake in 1822 and razed to the ground by the San Antolín earthquake of 2 September 1841.
- Heredia - Capital of the homonymous province.
- San José - The capital of the country since 1823, as well as other centers that arose in colonial times around vast coffee plantations.
- Turrialba - Capital of the canton of the same name, in the province of Cartago.
Other destinations
- Cordillera of Talamanca - In the center-south, on the other hand, the Cordillera di Talamanca is imposed on whose eastern side (Carribean Sea) is the La Amistad International Park.
- La Amistad International Park - It is a cross-border peace park located in central America, between Costa Rica and Panama. So called because it was established thanks to a joint action of the governments of Costa Rica is Panama. Since 1983 the park has been included in the list of the World Heritage Sites ofUNESCO.
