Veldhoven is a city of Netherlands.
It is a municipality and a city in the current genre in the southern Netherlands, which is located southwest of Eindhoven.
The modern city of Veldhoven is an agglomeration of old rural villages that in the 20th century grew to form a large suburban area of Eindhoven's restoration 'commuter needs. The villages are Veldhoven proper to the southwest, Meerveldhoven to the southeast, and Zeelst to the northeast. A new city center was built between Zeelst and Veldhoven. The village of Oerle, also belonging to the municipality of Veldhoven, is still considered as a village, despite the fact that the built-up area between Veldhoven and Oerle today is continuous.
Veldhoven is home to the headquarters of the high-tech (semiconductor) manufacturer, ASML lithography equipment. ASML occupies the tallest building (83 meters) in Veldhoven. The municipality has a large industrial and office area along La Mujer, which also includes the second largest square hospital in the urban region, Máxima Medisch Centrum.
