- 1 Market place (Rynek Główny) (in the heart of Krakow) – to be missed under any circumstances. The architecture is typical of Polish squares, with a cloth hall in the center. It is the largest medieval square in Europe (currently the largest square in Europe is the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux with 126,000 m²). There are always people, and it is good to stop there to stroll or have a drink. You will find :
- 2 Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) – built in XIVe century, it was rebuilt during the Renaissance, following a fire. It is now occupied by Polish handicraft stalls on the ground floor, and by the Museum of Polish Painting in the XIXe century on the first floor.
- 3 Statue of Adam Mickiewicz – the statue of this famous Polish romantic writer is the favorite meeting point for Poles and tourists in central Krakow.
- 4 Tour of the Town Hall (Wieża ratuszowa)
- 5 St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki)
- 6 Wawel (Wawel Royal Castle Museum and Cathedral with the Crypt of the Tombs of the Kings of Poland) (located at 10 min walk from the Rynek)
Mon.- Sun. : 9 h - 15 h. – Very well preserved. The number of tickets sold each day being limited, it is better to go there early in the morning.
- 7 Barbakan – one of the old city gates, recently renovated, is located on Les Planty.
- Planty – Former city moat converted into a park encircling the entire old town. The Wawel is located at the end of the Planty. You can go through them in an hour, walking at ease.
- Copernicus Museum – Located in the former premises of the Jagiellonian University where Copernicus studied
