By car

Włodzimierz Wołyński is a regional road junction. Traveling by car from Poland may take up to 10 hours.

  • From Warsaw: to Dęblin by road DW801, then exit for E372. Behind the Ukrainian border, we follow the E373 and T0302 roads.
  • From Chełm: to Horodło road DW844 and DW816, after the Ukrainian border, continue on the H22 motorway (2 hours).

By bus

You can get to the city from Warsaw West, buses from Chełm arrive every other day to the bus station.

Worth seeing

  • church o. Jesuits pw. Sending out the Apostles, erected by Michał Radzimiński in the years 1755-66. After the dissolution of the order in 1787, the buildings were taken over by the Basilians. From 1840 they were ruled by the Orthodox. For a short time in the interwar period, the temple returned to Catholics. In 1927, a theological seminary was established in the former monastery building. In 1992 it was handed over to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate and converted into a cathedral church of the Nativity.
  • parish church of St. Anne in the Baroque style from 1752. The temple was founded by Bishop Adam Woyna-Orański. He was looked after by the Capuchin Order. The Catholic parish existed here until 1958, when the communist authorities closed the church and devastated it, robbing the rococo altar and dismantling the belfry. Then the communists placed a cafe and a concert hall in it. Catholics regained the church and on January 3, 1992, they celebrated the first Mass. Currently under the care of the Carmelites. To the left of the entrance, there is a plaque from 1561 with a bas-relief depicting a Podhoreński knight in armor. Nearby were the buildings of the Capuchin monastery, demolished in 1833 by the Russians after the November Uprising.

  • the quarters of the soldiers of the Polish Army from 1919-1920 at the local cemetery, renovated in 2000 thanks to the efforts of the "Association for the Commemoration of Poles Murdered in Volhynia"
