Waiheke Island is near Auckland.

background

Waiheke is right outside the gates Auckland's in the Gulf of Hauraki, practically in sight. The ferry crossing takes around 30 minutes. The island offers ideal conditions for every newcomer to recover from the long flight from overseas. Above all, compared to the overcrowded and sometimes quite miserable backpackers in the city, Waiheke offers a good alternative to relaxing and enjoying nature.

In the high season the New Zealanders also appreciate this, the population is then slightly doubled.
