Wasungen is a worth seeing city in Southwest Thuringia. The half-timbered town is on the Werra north of Meiningen.

Wasungen is of national importance Carnival stronghold and was the center of the carnival in the former GDR.
The Wasungen Carnival has Franconian origins and is one of the oldest in Germany. A bucket of free beer for the active in 1524, donated by the mayor at the time, is proof. The popularly held carnival today consists of a large number of events such as balls, parades and foolish meetings with hand-made speeches, and from the big pageant on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. The battle cry in carnival is "Woesinge Ahoi!".
The Carnival Prince of Wasung has a special position: he has no princess but two female pages to support him.

- The main feature of the move is that it is not the loudest carnival car or the largest tractor that is in demand, but the most original ideas and costumes.
