West Bay is a city in the Cayman Islands in the north of the island of Grand Cayman.

background

This spacious place in the north of Seven Mile Beach looks back on 250 years of history. Many residents used to live there as seafarers or turtle hunters. One district has the beautiful name "Hell" - hell. There is also a small post office there with the corresponding postage stamp.

getting there

In the street

West Bay can be reached from the airport via Crewe Road and Eastern Avenue, or from the cruise pier in George Town via North Church Street. Eastern Avenue and North Church Street merge at Kirk Supermarket. After the traffic lights, the street runs as West Bay Road parallel to the beach all the way to West Bay. The extension of West Bay Road is North West Bay Road. This road also runs along the coast around the western tip to the turtle farm.

Welcome to hell
  • 2  Bright. A popular tourist destination, consisting of several small houses where you can buy T-shirts and postcards. The special thing is actually just the name hell. Here you can buy postcards from hell with such meaningful imprints as wish you were here are provided. You can get them in the Hell Post Office, (Post office to hell) send, they will be provided with their own stamp of hell. The motifs on most t-shirts also refer to hell. But what the hell is this hell? Actually just a piece of land, consisting of innumerable dark bizarre pillars made of limestone. There are several legends about why this piece of earth is called Hell. If you throw a stone into this formation, it sounds like it falls into hell. Or the place is reminiscent of the surface access to the underworld. Or a British general would have been horrified at the sight of this place Oh bright called. Or. But when all the tourists on a cruise ship visit this place, you know what hell is. Most of them will not discover the actual hell, located between the post office and the shop (with toilet), and will only notice the devils on the T-shirts and the colorful lettering on the surrounding houses.
