Wolfstein is a gem in Palatinate highlands. Located in the Lautertal, Wolfstein with its almost 2000 inhabitants is one of the smaller cities in Germany.

background

Wolfstein is not a historically evolved settlement, but was specifically re-established in the 13th century by order of Rudolf I, King of the Holy Roman Empire. The background was the Alt-Wolfstein Castle, which monitored the estate located here from the slopes of the Lautertal. The town charter, which still exists today, also dates from this time.

Today Wolfstein is the crossroads of numerous hiking trails and has a well-developed tourist infrastructure for a city of this size. The district still belongs to Wolfstein today Rossbach (Palatinate), who has grown together with Wolfstein for a long time.
