Characteristic
Geography
The province has 5 island groups: Riau Archipelago, Lingga Islands, Tambelan Islands, Anambas Islands and Natuna Islands.
Climate
There are 2 types of climate in the province: equatorial and oceanic. Therefore, there is quite a lot of rainfall (from 1,200 mm to 2,500 mm per year), and the temperature remains at an average level of 28 ° C.
Economy
Unfortunately, the development of the province to this day is based mainly on agriculture (which accounts for nearly% of the region's economy), but the importance of tourism, services and industry is growing, usually in larger cities, such as Batam or Tanjungpinang. The Riau Islands are rich in oil, tin, and bauxite, and the waters are full of fish. In turn, among the cultivated plants we distinguish, among others rubber tree, coconut and pepper.
