Xınalıq is located more than 50 km from Qubs at an altitude of 2250 m above sea level and for centuries it was an isolated village. Its inhabitants (the population is about 2,000 people) use their own language, which is not spoken anywhere else.
Drive
At the bazaar in Qubie, in front of Hotel Xınalıq there are UAZs, whose owners are waiting for those who want to go to the mountains. Russian-speaking Ağəli (tel. 050 6426303) - knows the surrounding ranges very well and has experience with foreigners, price negotiable, approx. 70 AZN for a day trip with sightseeing Qubs. Returning via a route other than asphalt means a higher price.
On the occasion of President Aliyev's visit to the village (October 2006), asphalt was laid and you can get to it by your own means of transport (not necessarily 4x4, although it would be better). Through Quba you have to go straight on the main road from Baku, after passing the roundabout, look for the signs for Qəçrəş. The first 20 km doesn't seem very interesting, but that changes dramatically when you enter the gorge. At km 41 there is a bridge, after which you should turn right towards the village of Cek (read jam).

Historical and Ethnographic Museum - usually you have to ask the residents who has the key (az. açar var?); inside there is a modest exhibition of dishes, weapons, orders and a "library"; there will rarely be someone who speaks a foreign language.
A half-hour walk among the houses should be very exciting. Houses are built like stairs - each one stands on the roof of the one underneath it. It is worth paying attention to the cubes of drying fertilizer that serve as fuel in winter.
A good view of the village is after taking the old upper road (az. yuxarı yol).
It is worth a try
Treat the children wandering around everywhere with sweets.
Go to the mountains. Xınalıq is a great base for trips to the surrounding mountains: Şahdağ, Heydər düzü, Tufan Dağ. You can also organize a trek from here to two places called Ləzə - one is located near the city Qusar (2-3 days) and the other one nearby Qəbələ (1 Day).

Shopping
It is worth buying some local products, such as socks or a hat. When someone invites you for tea, don't say no, but expect your hosts to offer something to buy after refreshments.

You can spend the night at the above-mentioned Rauf. There will always be an option because the population is hospitable.

At certain points, Xınalıqu has cellular coverage (Azercell for sure). You can forget about the Internet ... and you have to.
