Yojoa - Yojoa

(Spanish: Lago de Yojoa)

Largest lake in Honduras, located directly on the highway from Tegucigalpa to San Pedro Sula and there immediately at the junction towards Copan

Directly on the street there are some (sometimes very) simple restaurants, all of which are local specialties, fried Tilapia (Perch type) offer. The fish is served with tajadas (chips made from plantains) and red cabbage salad.

Near the lake are the Cuevas de Taulabé, caves that can be visited, as well as the Pulhapanzak waterfalls. These are particularly interesting at the end of the rainy season, i.e. October to January

Directly on the lake is the archaeological excavation site, the most important Mayan site in Honduras after the Copan ruins
