Hike

You start at the bus stop in Å, at the end of the E10 road. From there you go downhill through the tunnel. Then you can walk to the right into the center of the village and buy provisions for the hike in the small supermarket next to the museum. If you go to the left, a wide gravel road leads to the end of the village and finally turns into the hiking trail. This leads along the lake Ågvatnet. It is partially secured by climbing aids such as ropes. At the end of the lake you cross a stream and reach a sandy beach. Now you can make a detour to the small peninsula and enjoy the view of the lake from a 41 m high hill. After the beach, the route continues through swampy terrain and thick undergrowth.

Now comes the most difficult part: on a trampled path, it zigzags up the approx. 45 ° steep flank up to the 400 m high saddle. Once there, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of Lake Stokkvikvatnet and the surrounding mountains.

If you like, you can descend to Stokkvikvatnet and Stokkvika Bay on the west coast of Lofoten or follow the path on the saddle to the 826 m high Mengelsdalstindan.

The descent to Stokkvikvatnet is initially via path tracks, which, however, quickly get lost in the pathless terrain. The Stokkvika is preferably bypassed along its northern, partly swampy bank. The Stokkvika Bay is extremely lonely, the remains of dilapidated huts and fortified positions are evidence of busier times.

For the way back you use the way you came.
