Echallens is a municipality of Swiss, in the Gros-de-Vaud district.

Understand

In recent years, the town has experienced strong development. The number of its inhabitants has increased by more than a thousand to now stand at around 5,000.

This development has not been without posing some important problems. The appearance of the village has changed significantly. Entire neighborhoods of villas, even grouped dwellings, have sprung up at a rate that no one suspected. Echallens is therefore in the process of moving from a regional agricultural town to a dormitory village, undergoing urban and demographic pressure from the Lausanne metropolitan area.

To facilitate and improve their operating conditions, farmers, formerly in the center of the village, have moved to its surroundings in superb modern and functional facilities.

Thus, agriculture remains one of the flagships of the town's economy, which can therefore always be described as worthy. capital of the canton's granary.
