Echallens is a municipality of Swiss, in the Gros-de-Vaud district.

In recent years, the town has experienced strong development. The number of its inhabitants has increased by more than a thousand to now stand at around 5,000.
This development has not been without posing some important problems. The appearance of the village has changed significantly. Entire neighborhoods of villas, even grouped dwellings, have sprung up at a rate that no one suspected.
