Important destinations

  •   Panatzi. - The capital and largest city of the state
  •   Old Goa. - Administrative center in the colonial years. The Portuguese abandoned it during the 17th century after a cholera epidemic. In 1986 the Churches of Old Goa were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  •   Cantolim. Popular beach very close to Panatzi
  •   Kalagute. - Calangute beach which is found right after Condoleem is even more popular. At Christmas, tourists, mostly from Europe, fill its hotels
  •   Anjuna (Anjuna). - In the mid-1960s Anjuna became the center of the hippie counterculture. Today it is the favorite beach of the youth.
  •   Tsapora (Chapora). - Seaside resort very picturesque.
  •   Arabol (Arambol). - Traditional fishing village. Its rocky beach is one of the best in Goa
