Canakkale fortress

The Canakkale or Dardanelles (Turkish: Çanakkale) is a city and port in Turkey, in Çanakkale Province in Marmara Apartment, on the south (Asian) coast of the Dardanelles (or Hellespont). The Dardanelles are the second province (with Istanbul being the first) of Turkey to have territories on two different continents (Europe and Asia). There are boats, ferries, that cross the straits to the north (European) coast. Dardanelles is the nearest large city to the site of ancient Troy. The "wooden horse" from the recent film Troy is on shore. The Dardanelles (Canakkale) is sometimes called "Canak".
