THE Holy Monastery of Agia Kyriaki Alistrati It is one of the oldest Monasteries together with the Monastery of Eikosifoinissis. It is located in the Prefecture of Serres 2 km west of Alistrati, in a landscape rich in vegetation and water, next door. Its foundation is placed around 1857. Due to its location, it was during the time of the Macedonian Struggle, but also later during the last Bulgarian occupation, a gathering place for Greek guerrillas. It was set on fire in 1906 and in 1917 it was looted by the Bulgarian occupiers. In earlier times it experienced periods of prosperity and progress. In recent years, however (May 2014), under the abbot Nikodimi nun, the monastery is reborn to be restored to the position it historically enjoyed in the wider area.

Agia Kyriaki celebrates on July 7, where a two-day festival is held, with the participation of many people, from all over the area of ​​Serres and Drama and on November 2 it celebrates Panagia Kecharitomeni.

How to get there

By road

It is 25 km from Drama, 44 of Serres and 53 from Kavala.

Bus

The bus runs every hour to Serres and Drama from 05:00 to 22:00. The city has four stops in the park. Primary School, the Center and the crossroads for the cave.
