Girl. - The island of Korisko, just 15 sq. Km. area, is of tourist interest not only for its white sands but also from a historical point of view. During the Iron Age, Korisko was densely populated and excavations brought to light ancient necropolises. Along with the two nearby islands of Big and Small Elombei, Korisco is claimed by the state of Gabon mainly because of the rich oil deposits that have recently been discovered in the sea area.
