THE Konitsa (or Konita in Vlach) is a town Prefecture of Ioannina and seat of the Municipality of Konitsa of Epirus 64 km north of Ioannina and near the Albanian border. It lies amphitheatrically on the slope of Trapezitsa mountain, in the Pindos mountain range, overlooking the plain of Konitsa where the river Aoos meets the river Voidomatis and Sarandaporos.
Generally
The plain is systematically cultivated by local farmers. Konitsa is a regional center for many small villages of Pindos, while it has a market, schools and a health center. It is a good starting point for tourists who want to explore the mountains of Pindos, or who want to do mountain activities.
