How to get there
By air
Chania has a nearby airport, the State Airport of Chania "Ioannis Daskalogiannis", on the Akrotiri peninsula (Souda), at a distance of about 14 km from the city of Chania, with daily flights to / from Athens, but also cities abroad, especially during the tourist season.
By road
By car from its other prefectures Of Crete, or by car transfer by boat.
By boat
They are served by the port of Souda, which is located a few kilometers east of the city. It is connected to Piraeus once a day with ANEK.

How to move
By bus, private car or motorcycle. There are many places to rent cars and (small) motorcycles. In the old port (beach) the movement is strictly on foot (vehicles are not allowed outside the fuel supply).
What to see
- Old town and Venetian harbor. The old town has been largely preserved and includes Venetian as well as Ottoman elements. The Venetian mansions are located in the area of Topanas, while the predominantly Ottoman neighborhood of Chania is Splantzia. In Athenagoras Square, on Halidon Street, is the orthodox and catholic cathedral, as well as the archeological and folklore museum.
- The lighthouse at the entrance of the old port. The modern lighthouse was built by the Egyptians around 1830 on the site of an older Venetian lighthouse.
- Nautical Museum of Crete (in the Venetian port)
- Archaeological Museum of Chania
- The municipal market of Chania, with the special cruciform design.
- The tombs of Venizelos, in the area of Akrotiri, with panoramic views to the city of Chania.
