Brief history

In 1922, a group of Greek merchants arrived in Gandocro and established the town of Juba on the west bank of the White Nile. They formed a friendship with the indigenous people of Juba and established a trading town in Juba that will become a commercial district in the future. These houses built by the Greeks became banks, hotels, and consulate residences, and they were also one of the few buildings that survived until the 1940s.

On July 9, 2011, South Sudan officially became independent from the Republic of Sudan, and Juba became the capital of the Republic of South Sudan. Juba is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, and it has grown rapidly due to the sale of oil. Before December 15, 2012, before the internal conflict in South Sudan, Juba had a population of 700,000.
