As the Southwest Mandarin, Wuhan dialect also has 4 tones-Yinping, Yangping, Shangsheng, Qusheng, lacking in sound but soft. What is quite different from other Mandarin dialects is that in Wuhan dialect, most of the middle ancient tones of the pronunciation characters are pronounced as Yangping.
