Binhai County is named after the Yellow Sea in the east. It is located on the northeastern edge of Jiangsu Province, bordered by the abandoned Yellow River in the north, and National Highway 204 in the west. It is less than 100 kilometers north of Lianyungang, the east bridgehead of the Eurasian Continental Bridge, and has a coastline of 44.6 kilometers.

The land area of ​​Binhai County is 1667.4 square kilometers, accounting for 88.69%; the water area is 106 square kilometers, accounting for 5.64%; the tidal flat area is 106.6 square kilometers, accounting for 5.67%. There are 77,300 hectares of arable land and a population of 1.2 million (the sixth census).

The administrative divisions of Binhai County have 12 towns including Wuxun, Caiqiao, Zhenghong, Tongyu, Tianchang, Dongkan, Baju, Batan, Chentao, Binhai Port, Binhuai, and Jiepai, as well as modern agricultural industrial parks and Binhai Port Economic Zone.
