The island is about 4.5 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide. The island is flat and low-lying.
Except to the east, there are reefs on Darson Island, and many ships run aground here. Some granite along the shore, just above the high water mark, consists of large, round boulders.
There is very little fresh water on the island.
