History
Kalloni was one of the most prosperous and important cities of the medieval era in Lesvos. The existence of a small castle of medieval times, at the top of the hill "Paliokastro", testifies to its ancient location in the area, NE. from the current location of the town. Ruins of a medieval temple exist on the hill "Skepastos".
