Lesvos

THE Lesvos is its third largest island Of Greece. Since 2012, the whole island is a recognized geopark (an area with remarkable geological heritage) of UNESCO, as the island is home to one of the largest fossil forests in the world. The largest city and capital of the island is Mytilene, a name that usually refers to the whole island. The island is covered with vast olive groves.

How to get there

By air

Lesvos is served by the Mytilene State Airport "Odysseas Elytis", which is located 8 km south of Mytilene. Serves flights from Athena, Thessaloniki and Heraklion, while also accepting charter flights from European cities in the summer. There is also air communication with Lemnos, τη Samos and Rose.

By boat

From its port Piraeus and her Ραφήνας ferries depart regularly for the port of Lesvos. The journey takes about 12 and 10 hours respectively, while the ship makes stops on other islands. There is also a connection from Thessaloniki,Chios and Myrina the ship also makes stops on other islands.

There are several car rental companies in Lesvos such as Hertz, Budget,Imperial Lesvos, Europcar, Cosmos Car Rental.
