Mycenae is an area of the prefecture of Argolida, especially known for its many remarkable ancient monuments. It is located near Argos and Nafplio. In ancient times it was the center of the well-known Mycenaean civilization. Below the Acropolis of Mycenae lies the plain of Argos. This is one of the most remarkable archeological sites of the Peloponnese.
