To Rethimno is a city in Crete, capital of the Municipality of Rethymno. Nearest major cities are Chania and Heraklion.

How to get there

You can reach Rethymno by road from the northern road axis of Crete (B.O.A.K.), which connects Rethymno directly with Heraklion and the international airport "Nikos Kazantzakis". The journey takes about an hour and thirty minutes by bus and the routes are quite frequent, especially during the summer season (every hour). At a distance of about 70 km is the airport of Chania "Ioannis Daskalogiannis".

Also, you can reach by bus that connects Chania with Rethymnon and the journey takes about an hour.

The Fortress

THE Fortress is a Venetian castle in the northwest of the city. Guided tours are available. Performances take place in the open-air theater in the summer. Also the archeological museum is of great interest from a historical, architectural and archaeological point of view.

The Venetian harbor with the jetty and the beautiful traditional houses, which are preserved, have traditional taverns and apartments.
