Three Parallel Rivers refers to the Nu River, Lancang River, and Jinsha River in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern Yunnan Province, China. The terrain where the big rivers are arranged in parallel, and the natural wonders where the three rivers run parallel for hundreds of kilometers without converging. The shortest distance between the Lancang River and the Jinsha River is 66 kilometers, while the shortest distance between the Lancang River and the Nu River is less than 19 kilometers.

Due to the high mountains and deep valleys in the Three Parallel Rivers Reserve, the vertical zoning of climate and biology is obvious. The lower part is a dry and hot valley, and the upper part is a snow mountain glacier.

Flora and fauna

It has more than 20% of the higher plants in the country and 25% of the animal species in the country. There are 77 national protected animals such as Yunnan golden monkey, antelope, snow leopard, Bengal tiger, and black-necked crane, and 34 national protected plants such as Taiwania cedar, S. chinensis, and yew.
