The Yunnan-Burma Highway played a very important role in China's War of Resistance Against Japan. It may have a higher status in the minds of Chinese people than Westerners. However, Japan's invasion of China in 1937 caused huge disasters to both sides.

In fact, they occupied Shanghai in only three months. During the eight years of resistance from 1937 to 1945, they never occupied more than half of China's territory. The Chinese army has been fighting on the frontal battlefield, often retreating, but will always annihilate some enemies. The guerrillas led by the Communist Party of China often fight in the battlefield behind enemy lines. During the entire war, about half of the Japanese ground forces first entered the quagmire of the Chinese battlefield. It can be said that every land victory of the Allied forces in the Pacific War has contributed to China's tenacious resistance, including the materials transported through the Burma Road. Therefore, the Chinese battlefield is an important part of the Pacific battlefield, and the Myanmar-Burma Highway has contributed a lot to it.
Most of the works during the war were completed by the U.S. Army, most trucks were made by the U.S., and most drivers were black American soldiers. At the time, the U.S. military did not allow them to participate in combat.
In 1937 and 1938, most of the Yunnan-Burma roads were built by the Chinese themselves. About 200,000 workers without the help of heavy equipment built the roads in western Yunnan and eastern Myanmar.
