Landform

Torres del Paine National Park's landscape is dominated by huge plots, also known as Cordillera del Paine. Although formally part of the Andes, Cordillera del Paine is an independent mountain range with its own unique characteristics. The plot dates back to when the earth’s sedimentary rock layers lifted upwards, then slowly eroded through glaciers, until granite, the origin can be traced back 120,000 years ago; the serrated Torres is the result of this process.
