Abeokuta is a city of Nigeria.

Geographical notes
Abeokuta is located on a fertile plain from whose surface gray granite boulders sprout. It extends over a large area and is surrounded by 18-mile long mud walls.
Background
Abeokuta was born from the escape of indigenous people caused by slave seekers who stopped in this area forming the city. Abeokuta was largely transformed in the early 20th century. The courthouse, government offices, prisons and a large bridge were built, cobbled streets and a health system was created.
