Addison is a small place in the Southern tier of the US state new York.

background

The place populated since 1791 was initially called "Tuscarora". In 1808 it was named "Addison" in honor of the English politician and writer Joseph Addison (1672-1719).

getting there

Addison is 20 km west of Corning and can be reached from Corning via Route 417.

Tourist Attractions

  • Friends of beautiful Victorian residential architecture come by for a walk Maple Street (north of East Front Street, between Wall Street and Curtis Square) at their own expense. Photogenic houses in neo-gothic, neo-greek and italian villa style.
  • Addison's small business center on Main Street is nondescript.

  • In the southeast of the village lies the Pinnacle State Park (1904 Pinnacle Road, via Route 5), a sprawling, hilly park with hiking trails, picnic areas, and beautiful views. In the lower part of the park there is a golf course, where strollers should beware of stray balls.
