As Southern tier (German: southern location) is that region in the US state new York referred to west of the Catskill Mountains and from there it extends over a length of around 180 km to the northern edge of Pennsylvania hugs. The Southern Tier of New York and the Northern animal of Pennsylvania together form the so-called "Twin Tiers".
